  1. Hi Aaron, Can you tell me what is the difference between this RC-1AU charger and the one of the same model number at r-charge.com? Thanks!

  2. We offer the chargers build straight from John Bedini. The other company is run by someone what was kicked out of Bedini’s company and they started making counterfeit chargers that are substandard quality with almost no customer service.

  3. I purchased a Tesla Solar Tracker III 12 volt 60 ampre solar charge controller. After about 5 years, the circuit failed is there any way to get them repaired?

    1. Hi Herbert, that is after the warranty, but please send details about exactly what you had hooked up to it and any other details to info@ the domain name for this website and we can discuss possible repair options.

  4. I bought a Renaissance charger a few years back, worked fine for about a year then I left it in the rain and it croaked. I KNOW they offer no warranty but do you guys do any repair work on something like this? If not, I guess I’ll tear it apart and see if I can figure out which part[s] need replacing…

    1. Back then, they were built by Bedini until Renaissance got booted for countless ethical problems and now Renaissanse sells low quality imitation chargers not built by Bedini – basically bootlegged versions using obsolete circuits.

That is too long ago and the circuit is probably potted anyway so is not repairable. I believe they are mostly readily available parts, but diagnosing the problem is one thing and just getting to the parts to replace is another. I wish I could give you better news but I don’t believe anything can be done. Many models we can repair after warranty as long as it is a module or something in the bigger units – those can be replaced depending on the model, but that 2A12 cannot. If you look inside, you will see the circuit is filled with a compound that keeps people out of it.

      1. Wow, quick response-thanks, Aaron!
Hmmm. I only live a couple of hundred miles from you guys [Kalispell MT].

Maybe I should make my biannual journey to Spokane and stop off there and pick up a 1AU in order to save the shipping [us senior citizens gotta watch the pennies!]

I have enough essentially dead cordless tool batteries {Makita and Ryobi] that I’d like to take a crack at rejuvenating that maybe the 1AU would be a smarter choice. Any recommendation on that?

Any problem with picking up in person?

        1. Hi, the 1AU is the one that is appropriate for those tool batteries as long as those batteries are not the lithium ion type. The 1AU is for flooded cell lead acids SLA, AMG, nicads and nickel metal hydrides ( that are of course within the rating of the charger).

The 1AU will do AAAs all the way up to 24v 7ah batteries and everything in between.

Yes, you can save on shipping by picking it up in person, just give us enough notice so that we can make sure there is one ready for you in time.

          1. How much lead time do you need? I can go pretty much any time after next Friday-
BTW, does the `1AU also do LiOn batts?

          2. Please email Jeff at the email in the banner at the top of the page and he can find out if there is one in stock. If not, he can send you a paypal invoice for the item without shipping included. Once payment is received, the order will go in to build one and it can just sit on a shelf with your name on it until you roll into town – that is the simplest way to handle it. Jeff can let you know when its ready.

  5. Hello,
I’m new to this recharge stuff and have 3 different models of you charges and love them. My question has to do with how to work the li-ion battery packs. I’m covered on the Ni-CD, Mi-MH and lead acid from you. Do you have a model that is setup to work with the Lithium-Ion batteries.
    Thank you for your time.

  6. Hello,
I am considering buying 1AU charger to charge small batteries. How do I charge D-cells and AA cells, in parallel or in series with this charger?

    1. Alex,
You can charge batteries in series or parallel, but keep in mind that batteries must be nearly identical in condition in order to charge simultaneously, otherwise the weaker battery will bring the good battery down to its condition. I would recommend charging as few batteries at one time as possible to reduce compatibility problems.

      1. The smallest setting is #1 on the 1AU for 2AAA Ni-Cd or 4V for Lead-Acid, if I charge a single 1D or 1AA cell battery, won’t they explode or get damaged from too much potential or charge? I believe the settings on A1U is for series charging, or am I wrong? Can I charge one single D cell battery of 1.2V Ni-Cd without damage?

  8. I have a 2 amp 12 volt from you and it works amazing. I have brought back to life small SLA batteries from ups power supplies and I have also brought back large Starter batteries with it. I know the larger batteries were out of recommended range for the charger, but it seemed to work anyways but it did take a couple weeks. With this universal charger, why is it only limited to 24 v 7 AH. Is it because it will just take forever to charge if it is something larger?

  9. I have to disagree that this is the only universal charger on the market. The Reaktor 300W charger does not use the pulse regeneration feature but it does have charging curtrent programable from .05 to 20 amps and can charge 1 to 17 NiCd or NiMH, 1 to 12 Pb, or 1 to 6 Li cells (with individual cell balancing) with programable per cell terminal voltage.

  10. I fancy one of those universal ones, but’ need to come down in price for me, a bit expensive for none use as in business operations.
